Seeking Wonderland

It's time to introduce you to a new webshop: Seeking Wonderland. Seeking wonderland is a webshop that sells pieces from new and upcoming designers. It's the perfect way for them to gain some exposure and increase sales. Each designer gets their minishop on the site which helps to connect and share inspiration with people who are interested in buying a piece from them. The good news for you? Free worldwide shipping! And I got the chance to interview Angela, the co-founder of Seeking Wonderland.

To start with: could you introduce yourself a little?
I am Angela, co-founder of seekingwonderland. I graduated with a finance degree but I love fashion, so eventually I steered myself away from the maths and numbers, and I am now working on seekingwonderland.com full time.

When and why did you start the web shop?
We created seekingwonderland.com in November 2011. We wanted to provide an online platform for young fashion talents to grow and build their brands, a place for them to share and connect with sassy shoppers and, most of all, give the opportunity for shoppers to buy the amazing & unique pieces.

What makes Seeking Wonderland different than other web stores?
We are not just a simple marketplace, we are trying to create a shop for each designer within seekingwonderland.com, and there are 4 sections: storefront, profile, collection and lookbook/press (storefront and lookbook/press are coming soon). We have social networks diffused on designers’ profiles to help them build their fan-base. We also handle everything from their listings through to customer services, and shipping for designers based in Hong Kong and China. Designers will not need to stress about resizing their photos or updating listings, we handle it all for them – giving them more time to work on their collections.

What kind of people is Seeking Wonderland aiming to reach?
We don’t target anyone in particular; we are and will reach out to anyone that supports independent, emerging talents!

On what base do you select designers for the store?
We welcome all designers to join our platform, but there’s just one rule: the collections they are or will be selling on seekingwonderland.com must be their own work.

What are your personal favourite pieces of the store?
It would be Sane of Molly’s Elvina Jumpsuit. We cannot wait to receive the Thailand made delicacy!

How do you think fashion bloggers can help young talented designers and vice versa?
Designers cannot do everything by themselves; they need bloggers to blog about their brands, collections & experiences to a diverse group of audiences to get more insights or fans. On the other hand, bloggers blog about things they like, are passionate about, exciting news etc., bloggers need designers and designers need bloggers. I don’t think one will survive without the other one. There are many bloggers out there, the blogging world may be saturated but good bloggers will stay all the way!

Quick questions:

Alexander Wang or Proenza Schouler?
Alexander Wang

Maxiskirt or miniskirt?

High heels or sneakers?

New York or Paris?

So now, what do you think of this idea, the webshop? What's your favourite piece or designer from the store...? Shoot! I'd love to hear your opinions.
